The kid loves rocks.

handsome little man

He’s really growing up! Canyon is starting to try to form sentences and tell stories.  He’s such a blessing.

shiny bowl

February 26, 2008

Here’s to a clean toilet bowl! If your like me, I like my buns on a clean toilet seat. I hope you do too!

So you will start to notice a major trend here. VINEGAR and BAKING SODA. The two are great! Vinegar kills most molds and bacteria because of its natural acidity and baking soda scrubs and deodorizes.

To Clean A Toilet…

Sprinkle the bowl with baking soda

Spray with vinegar

I recommend letting the solution sit for a while [less elbow grease that way, and for tough stains let it sit over night] and then scrub. Voila! shiny bowl.

naturally clean

So we’ve all heard that we can clean the entire house with things [safe and non-toxic] we find in our own kitchens already.  You soooo can. I’ve been doing this for a while. I thought I’d start posting “recipes” slash “concoctions” so you could do it too! Really, these are super easy and so economical it’s silly!

All-Purpose cleaner

3 tbsp. vinegar

1/2 tsp. washing soda

1/2 tsp. naturally based liquid soap

2 cups hot water.

Mix ingredients in spray bottle or bucket. Apply and wipe or scrub away!

**To make things smell lovely[even though the vinegar only lingers for a little while] I like to add a natural essential oil. Lavender, Sage and Sweet Orange are my faves! You can find these in the “natural” sections at the local grocery store and at food co-ops.

Get to mixin’ and cleanin’!

More mixin’s to come

Thank You Poison Control

Let me just begin with saying I believe I should receive the “Worst Mother of the Week” award if not for the whole month.

Saturday, Brad went to his office for less than a half an hour to wrap some stuff up before he left for Mexico.  That left Canyon and myself at home alone. No biggie, we do it all the time. Except this time was a “biggie.”

I turned around to see Canyon sitting on a chair at the table in the kitchen. He thinks it’s great he can do it all by himself now and does it a few hundred times a day.  The next second I turned around [literally seconds] he’s smiling saying “mints!” with a big mouth full of white little pills [my prescribed antibiotic].  White little pills that are supposed to be in a childproof container.

Of coarse I freak out! Get everything out of his mouth that I possibly can. Meanwhile I’ve made Canyon very upset with my freak out reaction.  Immediately I call Poison Control as I count remaining pills, some in tact, some in fragments, others dust.

I’ve got to say, the peeps at Poison Control are good at what they do. At least the gentleman that I spoke with. He was calm the whole time, which calmed me down.  He reassured me after we deciphered how many pills Canyon did consume, that it was fine and Canyon would be totally okay.  HALLELUJAH! Somebody praise Him!

Lesson learned: I will not leave/forget my prescription in a child’s reach. Duh.

 He still loves me

We went downtown after Brad got home.

If it’s not one thing that blesses me more, is to see Canyon happy and having fun.

Saturday evening, our close friends Lindsey, Justin and Judah came down to visit from Seattle.  It was a great evening just to hang with them.  We don’t get to see them nearly enough.

Judah and Canyon had so much fun together! They both seemed so happy to have the other one to play with. Judah turning 2 this month, and Canyon 1 1/2, playing together, really interacting doesn’t always happen. They do and did. Where ever the other one was the other would follow. It was so cute.  It’s great to know they’re already pals.
